With multiple
rain delays happening in a lot of your matches this weekend it sure
can be tough to remember exactly what the score was and on which end
of the court you were playing the last time play was halted! |
|
 |
 |
|
So what happens
once you get back out there and finally start playing again if you
realize, mid-way through a game, you either forgot to switch ends
when you should have, or you started out on the wrong end from the
get-go? |
Ruling: As
a principle, under the Rules of Tennis, when an error is discovered, all
points played in good faith shall stand. (**
Everything counts up to that point.)
When an error is discovered it should be corrected as follows:
During a standard/regular game or tie-break game, if the players are at the
wrong ends of the court the error should be corrected as soon as it is
discovered. (**Get over to the other side -
now!)
In
addition, the server shall serve from the correct end of the court according
to the score. Example: 15-15 from the deuce court; 30-15 from the ad
court; and in the case of a tie-break where the score is say 2-2, the serve
shall be delivered from the deuce court. (**
Pick it up from there and serve to the right service box based on the
score.)
