The Olde Towne (Marietta) 4.0 Low team has a core group that’s been
playing together since 2002. Front, from left is Debra Tombrello,
Diane Renai, Jade Nordness (commuting from AL) and D’Ette Stratton;
back row is Jenni Ginepri, Teresa “Tinkerbell” Long, Suzanne Earp
and Amanda Ondras (May 2009 GA Tech graduate). |

Suzanne Earp’s 4.0 Low Olde Towne Athletic Club team has a player who
commutes from Huntsville, AL, to play on the team. Jade Nordness moved to
Alabama last September when her husband took a job with NASA, but she just
hasn’t been able to leave her Olde Towne team behind.
Even though Jade plays league tennis in Alabama as well, she’s managed to
get back to Marietta for two regular season matches and local USTA Atlanta
playoff finals. “I came back twice in the season, and the city finals
coincided with the Tennis Wholesale Show.” Jade runs her own business
cutetennisstuff.com, tennis clothing and accessories, all an outgrowth
of her love for tennis.
And, of course, she’s here in Macon with her team at the state
championships, well on their way to a finals berth on Sunday. “There’s a
core group of us,” teammate and partner D’Ette Stratton says, “from 2002,
who started play at 3.0 together.” And now they’re at their second state
championship in the 4.0 Low level. |
