With a mantra “We want to play!,” Southern Crescent’s 4.0 Low team
Whitewater, captained by Christine Kingsley, came ready to play this 2009
Adult League Championship. Armed with tricep tattoos and toenails painted with
rackets, the team played their first round match Friday morning at John Drew
Smith Tennis Center.
The team has solid State League Championships experience.
Co-Captain Kelly Love says: Every year going to State, we have TENNIS
TATTOOS!! This year we added tennis rackets to our pedicured TOES! We are
tennis crazy.” Turns out they also have “rituals” they follow every year
hoping to qualify for the elusive Sectional championship goal, using the
same driver, sitting in the same spots in the vehicles, rockin’ out to the
same tunes on the iPod. They even insist on the same person to fill out the
scorecard.
This is, Kelly says, their favorite time of the year!
