Rome-Floyd Tennis Center
and USTA Georgia would like to give a special thanks to Nita Perry. Perry
has volunteered her time for USTA and CORTA for 12 years.
2008 is her fifth year working as a volunteer at the tournament desk for the
adult State Championships tournament. Being around the championships and watching teams
have fun with tennis is what keeps her coming back every year. Interacting
with tennis players is one of her full time hobbies.
In addition to Nita’s
volunteer work with USTA, she is also a tournament referee and tennis coach.
She has been coaching for forty years, and currently coaches all ages at
Cooper Creek Tennis Center in Columbus. Perry enjoys being the chairman of
the adult league committee as well.
“This is a terrific
tournament,” said Nita. She looks forward to the adult league State
Championships every year, while also being able to fulfill her interests on
how each tournament is run. Perry will also be working both of the other
adult State Championships this month in Augusta and Macon.
Perry currently resides in
Columbus. She has two sons; one coaches with her at Cooper Creek, while the
other works in Naples, FL.
“I volunteer for the love
of the sport. It is my profession, it is my passion.”
